Skiathos
Skiathos is the most developed of the Sporades, known for its sandy beaches and its pine forests. Beaches on every side of the island, a town that comes alive in the evening, monasteries and the Kastro.

Amazing and beautiful
Skiathos has beaches on every side of it. Most are very easy to reach; some stay hidden, and you get to them by car or by boat.
Most are organised, with sunbeds and small tavernas and cafés. Water sports — water ski, parachute, rings — are popular, or you can rent a boat and go to the neighbouring islands.

Where the evening happens
The people, the colours, the sounds and the atmosphere of Skiathos Town are enough on their own to make it feel like summer in Greece, whether you are walking, having dinner or shopping.
The port takes on its best colours in the afternoon, from the sunset, the sea and the Pounda peninsula together — good for a slow walk by the sailing boats. The Old Port is where almost every day trip around the island, or to Tsougria, starts.
The land of culture

Skiathos is a land of culture, with great monasteries and numerous churches and chapels among the pine forests, each with its own story.
Kastro, the ruins of the old town, is the landmark to visit: a fortress against pirate raids in the 14th century, on a peninsula on the north side of the island. It was abandoned in 1830, and in recent years has become a place to go and feel the history of the island.
The forests
Walk, hike or ride
Skiathos is green all the way through, and suits anyone who wants to walk in nature, hike or cycle. There are easy walks in the forest and more demanding trails and hills.
There are many areas for walking, hiking, trail running and mountain biking. Some routes are well known; there are also organised excursions to join.
